4 Ways to Stay Hydrated this Summer, Inside + Out

Living in NYC during the summer, the heat is inteeeense to say the least! Those warmer months with longer days of sunshine are wonderful— but regardless of where you are, it’s definitely important to stay on top of your hydration during those months when you’re sweating it out and soaking up that extra sunshine.

Most people just think about drinking water when it comes to hydration (which is key too!), but there are several ways you can help every part of your body feel and stay hydrated.

Here are 4 easy ways to stay hydrated this summer, inside and out:

  1. Eat Hydrating, Real Foods

Certain fruits and veggies are super high in water content, helping hydrate your body alongside providing essential vitamins and minerals. Some of my favorite high water content fruits and veggies are celery, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, and strawberries— it’s no coincidence that these fruits are at their peak during the summertime, too!

  2. More Smoothies + Soups

Smoothies always add a little extra liquid to your foods— try a Power Greens smoothie or a Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade Smoothie to hydrate up deliciously! Soups are also a great way to drink up mineral-rich broth that helps nourish and hydrate your body— for some nutrient-dense broth, try making your own bone broth!

  3. Use Products that Nourish + Help Lock in Moisture

I love using products on my hair and body that contain truly hydrating ingredients like aloe and skip the synthetic silicones. Inspired by superfoods, Hair Food Organics new Coconut Oil + Dragon Fruit Collection is made with hydrating ingredients like aloe, coconut oil, and dragon fruit, and has no parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, or dyes🙌It locks in moisture and makes my hair feel nourished and super-soft. It’s PETA cruelty-free, so that feels as good as it makes my hair feel too! This collection is also NSF-certified and exclusively available at Costco.

  4. Adjust Your Water Intake Daily

Did you know you don’t need the same amount of water everyday? Always consider your activity levels, the weather, caffeine intake, and amount of exposure to heat when evaluating how much water you need. You’ll need more fluids on days where you’re exercising in the heat outside and drinking more caffeine than on the days where you’re more sedentary in the cool indoors without caffeine!
